Immerse yourself in the breathtaking views with Andrea Vardi and Susanna Bottazzi’s story

Discover Croatia and Slovenia on board an Ecovip L 4009

A dream journey, driving along Slovenian and Croatian roads with an Ecovip L 4009.
The protagonists of this trip are Andrea Vardi and Susanna Bottazzi, videomakers and bloggers. Together with their faithful four-legged friend, they ventured out to discover the beautiful landscapes Croatia and Slovenia offer their visitors. Slovenia and Croatia are excellent destinations to explore in a camper. When it comes to future itineraries, Andrea and Susanna’s trip will certainly offer useful insights and inspiration.

On board an Ecovip L 4009 Andrea and Susanna had the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking landscapes and discover the comfort of travelling in a Laika camper.

The two videomakers have kindly provided a video and photo report as well as their travel account, which we want to share with all of you.

Tolmin Gorge – Slovenia

After travelling along secondary streets for hours while enjoying the beautiful Slovenian countryside, Andrea and Susanna reach the Tolmin Gorge.

Tolmin Gorge is a truly enchanting place where nature has worked hard for centuries to create what we admire today. It is a place with unique geological features, which make it a highly recommended stop for those travelling through Slovenia.

Lake Bled and Bled Castle – Slovenia

Lake Bled is probably one of the most famous and beautiful places in Slovenia. Parking the camper and going for a long walk along the lake shore is a truly relaxing and comfortable experience. The splendid sunny day that Andrea and Susanna found on their arrival made the surroundings of Bled Castle and the island in the middle of the lake even more enchanting.

It is recommended to take a lot of pictures while enjoying the marvellous view, then stroll along the path leading to the castle and end the visit with a nice aperitif overlooking the lake.

Plitvice Lakes – Croatia

Crossing the border, Andrea and Susanna stumbled across a campsite nestled on a lush green hillside, lined with small paths to stroll along, where they agreed to spend the night.

Waking up, they decided to head for the Plitvice Lakes. Once arrived, the initial rain gives way to a sun that offers the travellers some warmth. All around is a burst of colour, with the autumn air and the clear water of the lakes acting as a background.

“In the evening we returned to the campsite rather exhausted after an intense day: being pampered in the warmth of the camper was an experience in itself”

Krka National Park – Croatia

Krka National Park is a miracle of nature that leaves everybody gaping in astonishment. Spectacular waterfalls that end in natural pools create the impression of being inside a fairy-tale setting.

It is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Croatia where one can enjoy oneself amid an environment dotted with waterfalls, gorges, rocks cliffs and caves. Don’t forget your camera at home.

Dubrovnik – Croatia

Another day, another stop: Dubrovnik! Also known as Ragusa Vecchia, Dubrovnik’s old town is considered the “Pearl of the Adriatic” and a tourist destination per excellence.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the diamond of the Dalmatic coast offers visitors enchanting sights, such as the Church of St. Blaise and the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. It is impossible to miss a dinner of fresh fish in one of the excellent restaurants on the coast.

Almissa – Croatia

The sixth stopover on the trip was Almissa, a picturesque town on the Croatian coast.

Losing oneself in the cobbled streets of the historical city centre adorned by old stone houses and waves crashing on the shoreline, making foam, transports visitors to a place where time seems to stand still.

A defensive tower, dating back to the 16th century, seems to set the town back to its former glory, offering a breathtaking view of the coastline.

“Almissa was a real surprise, a city in which to get lost and then find yourself again”

Island of Krk – Croatia

The rugged coastline of the island of Krk is the ideal place to relax. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, the island of Krk is the largest and busiest of the Croatian islands.

It is highly recommended to stroll along the coast, from which to admire the beauty of the crystal clear sea (blue flag) and then wander through the streets of the old town.

Vrsar – Croatia

The last stop of the journey was Vrsar in Istria. The relaxed and tranquil atmosphere the travellers found upon arrival made them inhale the classical air of a return trip. The journey is coming to an end and one would like to rewind time to have one more day … and then another.

Walks and visits seemed to emanate a different atmosphere, accompanied by the last and memorable fish dinner on the old harbour.

The campsite, set in the national park among the pine trees and close to the sea, was one of the most beautiful stops of the entire trip… the ideal way to say goodbye to this amazing adventure on the road.
